Chapter 24 of LiftKit
AI Marketing Analytics
Raw data is not leverage. Actionable next steps are.
Editor’s Note
You can’t pick when you find an insight that will change the game for you. The devil is in the details and he’s wearing camouflage. But you must tip the scales, take the time, and get comfortable with the numbers. Understand what numbers to care about, and which ones to ignore. A page with 5000 followers that drives 20x converting traffic is in far better shape than one in reverse. Even though the other looks prettier, her personality is clearly vapid.
Sometimes the insight is boring. For example, I ran a bottom of the funnel conversion ad which was a superstar. Rain or hail, she plodded along, driving sales. And no matter what we tested, we could never trump or replace it. The insight: this key message was all that was needed to expand the market. And we left it unchanged until the external market conditions shifted.
Sometimes doing nothing is everything. In other instances, it’s ruthless testing and cold culling, to ensure every cent is squeezed for what it’s worth. Once I tweaked an ad segment by adding a layered targeting metric and boom - down my cost per lead plummeted. I didn’t find another worthy insight for months, but that alone was enough.
Sit with your data. Using GPT helps as a sounding board if you’re running solo. If you aren’t, walk through the numbers and see what your colleagues see. Usually it’s similar, but often they will add the missing context to tell your story. I’ve saved hours using GPT to help me, but I absolutely use it with a grain of salt. OpenAI has continued to improve its numerical capability, but I tend to do a manual analysis first and then cross-check it. As AI grows, I know in a short time that won’t even be a requirement.
Find an insight and test it. If you’re wrong, it’s fine, at least you know. Log it. And keep going.
What You’ll Learn
You don’t need a dashboard. You need a diagnosis.
This chapter helps you:
Pull the right data from your platforms
Feed it into GPT diagnostics
Get a prioritized set of actions (not commentary)
Create team/client summaries
Prime GPT to generate fixes, variants, and improvements in Chapter 25
AI marketing analytics is the practice of using artificial intelligence tools to gather, analyse, interpret, and act on marketing data. Unlike traditional analytics, which require manual interpretation, AI systems spot patterns, make predictions, and surface insights faster—and often more accurately.
This chapter focuses on applying GPT as your AI co-analyst, helping you extract meaning from your performance data and generate summaries, reports, and strategic learnings in seconds.
Step 1: Set Your Review Cadence
How often you run analytics depends on how much traffic and spend you're working with.
Low volume (organic traffic, less than 500 visits/week):
→ Review every 14 daysMedium volume (email-driven or under $500/week in paid ads):
→ Review weeklyHigh volume (over $1,000/day in paid traffic):
→ Review daily for performance, and weekly for strategy
Set a calendar reminder now. Cadence creates clarity.
Step 2: Funnel Diagnostic Prompt
📝 Prompt: Weekly Funnel Diagnostic
Use this prompt to analyze your funnel data and identify the weakest stage, likely causes, specific suggestions for improvement, updated copy where needed, and prioritized next steps.

Step 3: Channel Efficiency Breakdown
📝 Prompt: Channel Efficiency Audit
Assess the performance of each marketing channel by calculating CPA, ROI, identifying underperforming and overperforming channels, and recommending budget adjustments.

Step 4: Attribution Snapshot
📝 Prompt: Funnel Attribution Estimator
Determine the likely first-touch and last-touch drivers, drop-off points by stage, estimated dwell time per stage, and identify retargeting or nurture gaps.

Step 5: Return Only What Matters
📝 Prompt: Precision Action Filter
Focus on the #1 friction point holding back results, understand why it's an issue (trust, offer, alignment, confusion), get a suggested test or messaging fix, a sample rewrite if applicable, and a clear next action.

Step 6: Weekly Summary Output (Optional)
📝 Prompt: GPT Weekly Performance Summary
Generate a concise summary highlighting what improved or declined, changes in user behaviour, top 2 insights to share with the team, and plain-English next actions. Format the output as a bullet list, free of jargon, ready for internal updates or client sharing.

Benefits of AI in Marketing Analytics
Turn messy data into actionable insight
Get fast answers to specific performance questions
Summarise weekly or campaign reports with precision
Detect high-performing segments earlier
Reduce decision lag and bias
Whether you're flying solo or managing a team, ChatGPT lets you reflect, analyse, and decide faster.
Key Components of AI Marketing Analytics
Data Integration: Combine multiple channels (Meta, Google Ads, CRM, etc.)
Automated Summaries: Generate reports, trends, and red flags instantly
Prompt-Based Analysis: Ask GPT specific questions to unearth insights
Funnel Fit: Track awareness, consideration, and conversion stage KPIs
Decision Output: Always translate insight → action
What to Look For (vs Ignore)
CTR is meaningless if the landing page doesn’t convert
Time-on-site can be misleading without context
One ad may outperform because of trust, not just creative
The only metrics that matter are those that align with your CAC, payback period, and funnel intent.
When Data Says: Do Nothing
If you have a high-converting asset that performs under varied conditions—protect it. Don’t test for the sake of testing.
When Data Says: Kill It
If something underperforms consistently, strip it down. Test each variable. Kill what's not working.
Use data like a scalpel, not a sword.
Using GPT for Insight Testing
GPT can be a powerful second brain when interpreting performance. Use it to:
Stress-test assumptions
Spot outliers
Generate hypotheses
Draft performance reviews
Simulate what-if scenarios
Always pair GPT insights with your own judgment.
Implementing AI Marketing Analytics in Your Strategy
Set up data pipelines: Centralise your campaign data (Google Sheets, CRM exports, ad dashboards)
Feed into GPT: Paste data or describe performance. Use prompts.
Generate summaries: Weekly, monthly, or per campaign
Log outcomes: Use these insights to make changes
Iterate: Re-run summaries after each change
Challenges and Considerations
GPT needs structured inputs to return quality output
Watch for hallucinations or invented trends
Don’t blindly trust—validate before acting
Balance speed of insight with confidence
Future Trends in AI Marketing Analytics
AI auto-detection of campaign anomalies
Personalised dashboard assistants
Voice-based performance recaps
Predictive spend reallocation models
GPT-powered decision briefings
Final Rule: Log Everything
Find an insight. Test it. If you’re wrong, good—now you know.
Log it. And keep going.

Where This Fits in the System
Next up: Chapter 25 – Attribution & Feedback Loops
That’s where you’ll learn how to connect your insights back to revenue and refine your system based on actual outcomes—not assumptions.
This chapter acts as your real-time control tower. Without it, your campaigns run blind, guided by gut feel and lagging results. With it, you turn performance data into sharp, system-wide decisions—faster, clearer, and with less waste.
